Monday saw the start of the Monmore Puppy Derby where we had 3 entries unfortunately, as usual with our luck in trap draws, we had two runners in one heat!
Klockwork Kaipo lined up in the first heat and he showed his full arsenal when leading early and overcoming a small bump when heading into the first bend, before showing great back straight pace to take control of the race. He soon found himself under pressure when turning for home at the 4th bend but as soon as the two chasers had a slight tangling together, Kaipo straightened up and was never in danger and stopped the clock on a decent 28.57. A pleasing run after a stop start last few weeks.
The third heat saw the kennel’s Rock It Vera and Klockwork Korker oppose each other, as well as the competition ante post favourite. A messy start and run to the bend saw Korker faced with early crowding whilst Vera was jostling for position. It was Korker who turned in third postition with Vera laying handy in fourth with both trying to make an impression into the early leaders. Turning for home Vera had worn Korker down and pressed on to take the third qualifying spot on the run in, beaten 3 lengths overall, with Korker another length and half back.
